About Us

who we are and why choose us

Tourism Concept

We are not the best tour guide-operator in the Pantanal – we are just excellent!

Practicing this job as a tour guide, this ‘distinction’ is what we hear more among the colleagues, telling about themselves. We never say we’re the best, because, by this way, we’d be comparing ourselves to the other tour guides-operators, and, except if you make many tours to the Pantanal – having one different tour guide and operator on each time, how could you compare their jobs? Differently than this, we say we are excellent, as we are ourselves each day better today than what we’re yesterday. We believe that only the good ones have the opportunity to become excellent and that’s what we say when we criticize-evaluate the services required and/or provided by us.

With a background in many expressions of Art, we used Theater as a language to environmental consciousness, as well as have photography keeping alive our enthusiasm for wildlife. We always think having done less than what we could have done, as there is always a new project and that’s why we founded INSTAR – a local NGO. Environment-Culture-Sustainable Development are the tripods of objectives, as we consider these elements, all together and mixed, are our Mission on Earth!

Conservation

Even not being a big company, since more than 20 years ago, Natureco particularly maintain in conservation status two pieces of land in Pantanal – totalizing around 1,000 hectares – that shelters the most authentic varied wildlife of this ecological sanctuary. The first land we acquired – and kept untouched until these days – contributes for enlarging the corridor of Jaguars, neighbor to the public protected areas the Meeting of Waters Park and Pantanal National Park and to the private protected areas of Ecotrópica (The Nature Conservancy) and Panthera Foundation.
The second is a pristine area at a mammal shelter and birds refuge, with neither cattle, nor human being presence, remnant of the huge area of Pouso Alegre. It is being subject of a serious environmental licenses authorization process, for us to be the first lodge in Pantanal that is obeying it since the most preliminary interventions (the access road, with bridges and pipelines for the free circulation of the water, as well as the choice of the location for building), taking in consideration the impact on and the interaction to the wildlife.

Social-Environmental Responsability

Composing our holistic degree of study, probably Law influenced the construction of an awareness of social justice that always led us to dedicate our work to cause improvements in the economic conditions of the actors (tour guides, lodge owners, etc.) involved in our work of wildlife observation ecotourism. As a tour guide, we take into account the high importance of the quality of this work to determine the success of the Pantanal tour experience, and this is what led us to train the ten best professionals working in the market.
A muscat, a waiter, a cowboy, a musician, a native citizen, an assistant builder, a biologist… all of them were ‘victims’ of our training. Some of them recognize that, but if not, it’s not important…we just want them to continue spreading tourism like a conservation tool.

The Recognition of our work!

We are proud to say that we are author of the The Guardian article about Cuiabá as one of the host cities during the Football World Cup in 2014.

Prêmio Senac /SP

We were recognized by SENAC/SP in 1994 as a company that promotes ecotourism in Brazil.

Theodore Roosevelt, lived an epic expedition in Mato Grosso, more than one century ago. Our friend Cacá de Souza made this great documentary and we were invited to guide a member of his family who revived a little of this experience.

We had the honor of guiding Mrs. Flora MacDonald, the Canada Foreign Former Minister, who made a documentary about Ecotourism in the Pantanal, in Costa Rica and in Kenya.

Thanks to Shannon Bouton, we are very proud for having guided all the participants of the 27 th Annual Meeting of The Waterbird Society.

People & Jaguars

We are proud to mention our participation in the Project of professor Silvio Marhini titled People and Jaguars – a Guide for Coexistence.

Involving Ministries of Environment, Tourism, Agricultural Development and GIZ – Academy of German Cooperation as part of preparations for the 2014 World Cup, this program selected, in the surrounding of the 12 host cities of the games, 24 tour itineraries that privileged family farming experience.

Publications

Offering interesting wildlife observation safaris, Natureco’s work has – by some celebrated visitors – been recognized and disseminated in various publications around the world. Supporters of a posture consistent with the environment and politically engaged in its conservation, we publish – as authors or as interviewees – our thoughts, in the hope of raising awareness of the local population.
