ENTRANCE GATES

With portions in Bolivia and in Paraguay, the main entrances to visit the Pantanal are CGB_Cuiabá, in Mato Grosso and CGR_Campo Grande, in Mato Grosso do Sul. Those two State capitals are connected with many daily and direct flights to São Paulo (GRU, CGH, VCP); Rio de Janeiro (GIG, SDU) and Brasília (BSB), which permits immediate connections to/from domestic and international flights.

In Mato Grosso, we have three main destinations – Cáceres, along the Paraguay river; Barão de Melgaço, on the huge lakes at the Cuiabá river and Poconé, where there is the Transpantaneira park-road. Natureco created exclusive names to the different places visited, according to the environment, the seasonal movement of the wildlife observed and to the travelers interests.

Jaguar Seeking is a photo-expedition safari done from June to November on the regions surrounding two protected areas: the Meeting of Waters Park, near by Porto Jofre and the Tayamã Ecological Station, at the Paraguay river banks.

Dynamic Pantanal High-Low are tours done all over the year, through diversified environments, with different landscapes and huge variety of wildlife observed considering the dynamic pulsation of the dry and wet seasons.

The Dynamic Low Pantanal depicts the Flooding Fields, where some non-flooded mound-hills reached by overland safaris congregate mammals, as well as nests of Hyacinthine Macaws, Jabiru Storks, primates and rodents.

The Dynamic High Pantanal depicts the Gallery Forests, on river banks, where boat rides permits us to see a wide variety of aquatic birds, as well as Caimans and mammals like Tapirs, Otters… At the dense vegetation, many genuine birds as well.

WET SEASON

From January to March is when Pantanal gets flooded from the overflowing of the water courses of a large area. Mammals congregate on the few non-flooded ‘islands’ of vegetation

DRAINING SEASON

From April to June, rains stop, draining the terrain. The weather gets very fresh. No mosquitos at all. Return of the migratory birds. Beginning of the large congregation of birds and caimans.

DRY SEASON

From July to September it is the peak of the dry season, with no rain. Short days, but easy access by land to the remote regions. Navigation is limited, but that’s the year’s largest concentration of wildlife.

WETTING SEASON

From October to December, the rains gradually return, cleaning the dust from the air and allowing the trees to bear fruit, which attracts many birds (best time to observe them). Flowering of the trees.

At the Dry Season, all the accesses are open for our jeep safaris, being it the best way to see the wildlife.

Especially indicated to the Wet Season, horse reaches places where we can’t go by car or by feet. Animals don’t perceive the horseman on top.

The best way to approach and find on your own the best angle for photograph the animals, especially birds in between the trees.

There is a bunch of animals with nocturnal habits, like Giant Anteater, Deer, Tapirs, Foxes, taking advantage of the fresher air. Caiman eyes.

At the Gallery forest, especially at the Dry Season, the rivers attract a lot of birds, mammals and reptiles that are easily photographed.

Piloted by native captains, who know the region as no one, the fast speed boats are part of a net connected by radio-communication, in order to maximize our chances to see the elusive Jaguars.

In spite of not having any endemic specie, the varied ecosystems at Pantanal Wetlands account nearly 700 species of birds. The neighbors Chapada dos Guimarães, Nobres and the Amazon at the woodlands are home to a large variety of avifauna, with highlight to the Harpy Eagle. Get for free the Pantanal Birds list

The World largest Wetlands is even most magnificent from the air. The amazing views of the lakes, woodlands, marshes, rivers and even mountains makes it comprehensible why it is the prime destination for many birds in their migratory flights N-S.
